Raymond Park Playground Opening Celebration
Event Details
Raymond Park (SE 118th & SE Raymond)
Thursday, May 8, 2:30–5:30 PM (Community can drop in anytime)
What to expect:
Free food, music, games, face painting, ice cream, and resources. Community partners including Green Lents, Girls on the Run, Leach Garden Friends, Free Lunch + Play, Urban Forestry, Portland Pickles, Latino Network, THRIVE EAST PDX, and others. It’s a fun celebration kick off a summer with a new playground that was design by neighbors!
Portland Parks & Recreation is co-hosting with Portland Parks Foundation, who’s successful Everybody Plays Campaign helped make this project possible. The new Raymond Park playground reflects a shared commitment to creating accessible, inclusive play spaces for families and children in the Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhood.
We’d love to have you involved in whatever way makes sense for your team:
- Join us at the event
You’re welcome to table, share resources, or bring a small activity or giveaway. We would gladly feature your group and/or resources on the webpage, future outreach invites, and social media posts to boost awareness of your programs.
- Help share the invite with the neighborhood and families
We’re hoping to reach families who live near the park. We could use your help as you work with these folks regularly:
· Sharing the attached flyer (available in multiple languages)
· Posting to your social media, WhatsApp, or newsletters
- Sending to families or community members (I can provide short, translated text)
For schools and youth programs, sharing through family apps (ParentSquare, Trivory, etc.) makes a big impact.
